On the first day of the meeting (April 11th, 2016), all delegates spent minutes in memory of the International Committee’s members who initiated and built the Vietnam Friendship Village; the vice president of the Veterans Association of Vietnam, concurrently the president of the Vietnam National Committee offered the Friendship Medals of the Vietnamese State to the members for their much contribution into the building and development of the Friendship Village and active contribution in strengthening and developing the friendship between Vietnam and other nations; the delegates planted the memorial tree in memory of Mr. John Berlow – US citizen who initiated, built and developed the organic garden project at the Friendship Village; in turn, the representatives of the national committees represented their activities of fundraising in their nations.
On April 12th, the conference discussed, ratified the contents which will be performed for the next two year (2017 - 2018) and signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the contents such as the quantitative norms of veterans and children – victims of Agent Orange at the Vietnam Friendship Village in 2017 – 2018; continuing to maintain the work of nursing, medical treatment for war veterans and fostering, medical treatment, special education and vocation training for the disabled children well; financial commitment for the general operation work for 2017 and 2018 and other areas.
The conference ended successfully in the open and friendship atmosphere and left a deep impression on the international delegates, leaders of Veterans Association of Vietnam and all leaders and employees of the Vietnam Friendship Village.
