 › The Ministry of National Defense visited and gave gifts to the Vietnam Friendship Village

In the series of activities to celebrate the 69th  anniversary of War Invalid and Martyr Day (July 27th 1947 – July 27th 2016). On behalf of the Delegation of the National Ministry of Defense,  Mr. Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy chairman of the General visited and gave gifts to the Vietnam Friendship Village.

The Vietnam Friendship Village was established in 1998, is a place of caring for and nursing veterans, youth volunteers exposed to Agent Orange/ Dioxin during the war against the U.S. War who have been old, weak and have the special difficult circumstance. Not only nursing veterans, The Vietnam Friendship Village also fosters and educates children contaminated with Agent Orange/ Dioxin from their parents and grandparents. The Friendship Village has 10 classes: 6 special educational classes help children learn how to read and write, 2 living – skill classes and 4 job – training classes (class of lower, embroidery, sewing and computer) make partly the lives by themselves and reintegrate into their community. The Friendship Village usually takes care of, educates and rehabilitates 120 children and cares for 70 war veterans and youth volunteers who come from Quang Binh province (the middle of the country) to Northern Vietnam.

During a visit at the Vietnam Friendship Village, Lieutenant General Do Can encouraged leaders and staff to overcome the difficulties and well perform the work of taking care of, making medical treatment for the policy objects and their children and grandchildren. He also confirmed that the National Ministry of Defense will continue to join its hand and pay more attention to the policies to those making contribution to the national independence and freedom in general and to the Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in particular, and actively build the Vietnam Friendship Village to become the reliable address of love, compassion and “drinking water, remember its resource”.
