On the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival, 2016, Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Hong Lan visited and presented gifts to the children with disabilities - victims of Agent Orange / Dioxin being cared for, medical treatment and education in Vietnam Friendship Village. Accompany with her included Mr. To Duc - Deputy Director of Department of Social Sponsoring, Mr. Le Tuyet Mai - Deputy director of Children Vietnam Fund and other members
In the morning of September 13th, Mr. Rudy DEMOTTE, Minister – President of the Federation Wallonie – Bruxelles (Belgian Community of speaking French) visited the Vietnam Friendship Village. He was accompanied by Mrs. Jehanne Roccas – Belgian Ambassador in Vietnam; Ms. Anne LANGE – Representative for Wallonie - Bruxelles in Vietnam; Mr. Philippe DETHEUX - Adviser of Cabinet of Minister – president and other members. Receiving and meeting with Minister – President Rudy DEMOTTE and the delegation included Director Dinh Van Tuyen, vice – directors and leaders of rooms and centers of the Vietnam Friendship Village.
On the occasion of the Mid – Autumn Festival of 2016, the disabled children – victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin who are being cared for and educated at the Vietnam Friendship Village – the Veterans Association of Vietnam, received much interest, encouragement and share of all levels, sectors, many organizations, agencies and individuals at home and abroad. Especially the attention of the U.S. Ambassador Ted Osius and staff of the Embassy in Hanoi who visited, gave gifts and attended the Mid – Autumn Festival with the disabled children at the Vietnam Friendship Village.
On the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Day for wounded Soldiers and Martyrs (July 27th 2047 – July 27th 2016) and the 55th anniversary of the Day for Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange (August 10th 1961 – August 10th 2016), Mr. Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung, the party secretary, political commissar of the General Department of Defense Industry visited and presented gifts to the Vietnam Friendship Village at An Trai Village, Van Canh commune, Hoai Duc district, Hanoi, where is nursing veterans and caring for and educating the disabled children – victims of Agent Orange. Joining with the delegation, there were Mr. Colonel Hoang Tuan Hien, vice – director of the Political Department and policy – making and propaganda officials of the Political Department under the General Department of Defense Industry.
In the morning of June 23rd 2016, the group of doctors and assistant doctors of the Army hospital 103 examined the health for veterans and gave gifts to the Vietnam Friendship Village. This was to celebrate the 69th anniversary year of the Vietnamese War Invalid and Martyr Day (July 27th 1947 – July 27th 2016) and raising the revolutionary and the military traditions to contribute into performing the rear army policy.
On April 11th and 12th 2016, the Vietnam Friendship Village – the Veterans Association of Vietnam held the 16th International Committee Meeting for the Vietnam Friendship Village. The meeting evaluated the results of operations of the Friendship Village for the last two years and gave out the directions and plans for the next two years. Attending the meeting included the representatives of national committee of Germany, France, USA, Japan, Canada, Vietnam and the representatives of the Vietnam National Ministry of Defense and agencies in concern, local authorities and media agencies.
On January 18th 2016, General Ngo Xuan Lich, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, Chairman of the General Political Department and representatives of Agencies of the General Political Department and representatives of leaders of Capital Command Department visited and presented gifts to the Vietnam Friendship Village belonging to the Veterans Association of Vietnam
In order to improve the specialized qualification for the teachers as well as create the condition for them access to the modern teaching method. The Friendship Village organized the training course for its teachers with the subject: “Applying the TEACCH method on teaching the children with autism and disability” from August 10th 2015 to August 13th 2015
The Vietnam Friendship Village is a symbol of humanity, friendship, reconciliation and the destination of the local and international friends, which includes the U.S veterans who had ever fought in Vietnam.
The Vietnam Friendship Village, which belongs to the Veterans Association of Vietnam, established on March 18th 1998. It is a beautiful symbol of international solidarity, peace and friendship and reconciliation and is the result of cooperation between the Vietnam veterans Association and other veterans and the peace - loving organizations of the U.S, Germany, France, Japan, Canada and England. The idea of establishment of the Friendship Village is from the U.S .veterans, George Mizo, who was directly fighting in Vietnam. Together those people discussed and established an international committee on the Vietnam Friendship Village to help the Vietnam children and veterans – victims of Agent Orange and named the Vietnam Friendship Village.
