On the occasion of attending the 7th University Scholars Leadership Symposium 2016 in Hanoi, the International student group which included 100 students from 70 nations visited the Vietnam Friendship Village.
As you know each volunteer has his their own way of helping the disabled children – victims of Agent Orange - like teaching children English, playing with them, giving them the rehabilitation exercises, helping them with their personal hygiene… And the following is a special way an English teacher here in Ha Noi has helped to contribute to the sewing class at the Vietnam Friendship Village – The Veterans Association of Vietnam, the place of healing the wound of the war.
From August 25th 2014 to August 28th 2014, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Study Promotion Society held the 2nd festival of singing and dancing performances nationwide with the subject “The Energy of Love”. The purpose of this festival is to create the opportunity for the disabled children to enjoy cultural and artistic values as well as talent development, especially the aptitude and creation in arts, which contribute to improve the quality of education for the disabled children in particular and children in general.
Organized from August 9th to August 11th at Nguyen Dinh Chieu secondary school, Hanoi, the art festival received and attracted the attention of many social sponsor and the disabled children centers nationwide.
On July 24th – 28th 2013, the Sports Training Center for senior athletes in Hanoi took place the national sports prize for the disabled children in 2013. The contest has attracted a lot of athletes with disabilities from many provinces and cities who participated in the different sports like athletics, swimming, chess, weightlifting, badminton and table tennis.
On the occasion of the new year 2013 (the Year of the Snake), Lt.Gen. Nguyen Van Duoc, the president of the Veterans Association of Vietnam visited and gave gifts to many organizations including the Vietnam Friendship Village.
Implementing the program of the application of the information technology on teaching children with intellectual disabilities and dumb and deaf children in the school year 2012 – 2013, under the guideline of the Board of Director, the Center of Education and Vocational training sent teachers to visit the Specialized Primary school in Danang (According to the Vietnam Institute of Science and Education, this school has successfully applied the information technology on teaching the disabled children ).
Implement the regulation of the International Committee for the Vietnam Friendship Village and the Veterans Association of Vietnam, the 14th International Meeting for the Vietnam Friendship Village was held at the Friendship Village, Hanoi with the representatives from Germany, France, the U.S, Japan and Vietnam. The conference aimed to make summary and assess the result of the Friendship Village’s activities in the past two years (2010 - 2011) and put out the plans for the next two years.
